Arts (Music, Drama, Visual Arts, Dance), Audio/Visual Technology & Communications
Polytechnic High School respects the essential contribution the arts play in the lives of everyone. FAME (The Fine Arts, Media, and Entertainment Small Learning Community) is a three-year program for students at Polytechnic High School who show interest and wish to pursue the Arts. Within the program are several specific interst pathways while promoting a rigorous arts education program. FAME will offer classes that fulfill both the General Education and Fine Arts requirements. Our goal is to offer a program that will prepare students for post-secondary education as well as vocational skills for immediate employment upon graduation in many areas of the entertainment industry.
The strands and courses available to students set FAME apart from the other Small Learning Communities at Polytechnic High School. Students interested in pursuing college and/or careers in Visual Arts, Music, Dance, Media, or Theater can get their start here in FAME. Specific courses include Cinema, Drama, Theater, Ceramics, Photography, Orchestra, Choir, and Murals, just to name a few. In addition, students will participate in at least one public presentation or performance activity each year in which they have the opportunity to display their skills to the Polytechnic High School community, local businesses, feeder schools, and anyone else interested in the Arts.
