Poly Student is awarded the Warren Christopher Scholarship!

The Warren Christopher Scholarship is a $20,000 college scholarship offered to 10th grade students in LAUSD who demonstrate academic excellence, a commitment to community service, financial need, and ability to overcome hardship.

 

This year, LAUSD and the California Community Fund selected Gerson Espinoza as one of the 16 students from 122 applicants for the award.  Gerson is a current 10th grade student who with the highest GPA in the Class of 2021. He  came to Poly in  9th grade and enrolled in AP Environmental Science. In addition he was a member of the Track & Field team. He received a score of 5 on his first AP test (AP Environmental Science).  In 10th grade, Gerson decided to take 4 AP classes- AP Seminar, AP Biology AB, AP Calculus AB/BC.  He is well known by his classmates and teachers as an amazing student with an incredible drive to succeed. He is determined to attend Stanford University in Fall of 2021 and plans to study Biology and attend medical school. His dream has always been to be a Pediatrician.
