Today on 9/30:

1)  S. Saga Game

2)  Springboard Pg. 75.  On this page, highlight the issues why Acuna became an organizer for the United Farm Workers.  Completed all key ideas and details.  This was stamped in class.

 

HW = Read pgs. 78-80 of Springboard.  Highlight examples that define the concept of the American Dream.  Answer all key ideas & details.  DUE Tuesday.   ALSO - Study for Simon's Saga test on Friday.  Quiz Tuesday on Enrique's Journey (chps. 1-6 perhaps....).  So keep reading.

Today on 9/28:  

1)  Springboard Pgs. 55-58.  Underline (NOT HIGHLIGHT) the argument + claims in the article.  You are also to annotate (this means talk to the text, and you must respond to what you're reading).  

2)  All key ideas and details completed.

3)  In My Notes Section, write down whether the article supoorts or goes against teh American Dream and why.  

4)  Groups received a stamp (per 4 did not get stamps yet).

 

HW = Essay due tomorrow (must be printed out before you come to class.  Bring old one, new on top.  If you were required to go to tutoring, bring form with essay.

3)  Groups worked on pg. 43-45 of "What is Freedom?"  If absent, you should complete underlining all parts that refer to freedom (During Reading #2) + complete chart on pg. 45 (Left column only), and the two Key Ideas and Detials on pg 44.

 

HW = Read Enrique's Journey (Be done with chp. 5 by 9/30).  HW = Springboard Lesson Pg. 32 Read the essay "Growing up Asian in America" and underline "During Reading #2 all parts in text that refer to the two sides of her face and past and  answer both key ideas and details.

3)  Springboard pgs. 8-9:  We discussed Ellis Island & Statue of Liberty and read and took notes on pg. 9 Lazarus poem.  See a friend for those.  

 

HW = Pg. 12 of Springboard - Read the directions and complete #1, #2 and read poem (AND ANNOTATE) and complete key ideas and details.  Due tomorrow.  Due Thursday - read Enrique's Journey pgs. 3-24 by Thursday and select 3 quotes that are significant to you for discussion.  Simply use a post it and identify where the quote is and page # with post it.  Bring those to class.

Due:  Springboard Pages 4-8 stamped at beginning of class.  Then, it was picture day.

1)  Groups continued prologue until the section that says "Following a Dangerous Path."  Then we stopped.  

 

2)  Springboard:  Revew of EA 1, Groups charted "Promise Vs Reality" and then we shared out the concepts.

 

HW  Assigned:  PLEASE NOTE:  I CHANGED SIMON'S SAGA DUE DATE SO EXERCISES SHOULD BE DUE ON MONDAY NOW - NOT TOMORROW!  HW is also Springboard pages 4-8.  Items were highlighted in class for the "To Do" List:

(Pg. 4 Answer #1 and 2 Essential Questions).  Pg. 6 and 7 Read the essay.  Also on page 6 and 7 please answer all the Key Ideas and Details.  On page 8, answer # 1 (Before Reading and 2 (all parts)).

2)  Simon's Saga Introduced (complete the exercises and be ready for a stamp on Friday).

3)  Springboard:  Finished pg. 2 (Scavenger Hunt handout) and unpacked the unit by looking at p. 51 and 52 to answer the questions on this h.o..  Then it was turned in.
