4)  Springboard Pages 10-11.  We completed "During Reading" all parts.  We completed reading of the speech.  Then groups completed "After Reading" all parts.  Come to class with the statement based on the two most significant details of the essay.  This should be written on page 11 if you can squeeze it on there.  Also, fill out the "Key Ideas & Details" on pg. 11  (write response above under "My Notes" section. 

 

HW = Study Questions for "The Great Gatsby"  chp. 1 only (due Tuesday) and Quotes from Chp. 1 (due Tuesday).  Continue to study Simon's Saga.

2)  Crossword Puzzle started (to practice for test).  Puzzle due when you arrive tomorrow.

3)  Introduction to The Great Gatsby.  Notes taken in class.   Book started.  Period 1 read to pg.  11   and per 3 to page  7.  If you were not here you are responsible for these pages and notes!

4)  Significant Quotes:  Handout (take 5 - one for each chapter of the book). 

5)  Hall Passes/Bathroom passes given out.  Don't lose them!!

 

HW = Springboard pgs. 8 and 9.  Complete 1, 2 and 4.  Be sure to answer ALL parts of these questions.  Write your responses in the book on these pages.  Be sure you annotate the poem as stated in #4.  Also. step 5 (not in book....circle all words you don't know and define them on the page!!)

Today on 8/20:

1)  Journal #1 - Pick the 10 hardest words from Simon's Saga and use them in 10 sentences.  You may change the end of the word as long as it still makes sense.  Please underline the word in your journal.  (Finish for homework).

 

2)  English Department Assessment (last one for a while!!!):  This is for the whole period.

 

HW = Complete Journal #1 - I'll be checking tomorrow.   Begin reading The Great Gatsby chp. 1 is to be done by Monday.  You can "read" this on You Tube.  Find an AUDIO version so you can listen to it!  Or, of course, you can read it on your own!  Bring to class on a daily basis!!!
