cyber security has become such a global threat Ana Global challenge this isn't a military problem this is a retail problem this is a wholesale problems Logistics problem this problem catch a every segment of the United States  back into corporations and companies and more dangerous Easter having went in packs for the organizations that they affect how do we as a country fill these jobs that need to be filled  Summit Patriots offering that on a platter  the cyberpatriot National Youth cyber education program was created by the Air Force Association in 2009 to attract students to careers and academic opportunities in cyber security add other stem fields  at the core of the program is its annual National Youth cyber defense competition that challenges team high school and middle school students to strengthen and defend simulated computer networks  due in large part to the support of hunting sponsor the Northrop Grumman Foundation the cyberpatriot competition field has grown nearly 40% each year we started it all what's a group of eight high school teams in the State of Florida this year 2014 through 2015 we registered 2175 team all 50 states and in Canada it was a perfect alignment with where we're going as a corporation and cyber  how many materials and practice rounds offered by cyberpatriot and with the help of local volunteer mentors competitors learn to defend a variety of operating systems from Cyber attack  cyberpatriot teams are identity open division all service Division and Middle School Division based on their organization type the teams compete within their divisions in several online qualifying rounds which challenge them to find antefix cyber security vulnerabilities in a variety of simulated Networks after these rounds the top 20 teens travel all expenses paid to the National Finals competition where they battle it out for their divisions national championship title and for academic scholarships don't by Northrop Grumman Corporation for pursuing the exciting field of cyber security  temperate Patriot just make cyber learning way more fun interesting technology towards something that can have exponential benefits to them play Curious kid and I've never really had an outlet cyber really giving me in somewhere to direct all my curiosity towards and it's been really incredible for me truly this gives any high school student of true Taste of not only what it would be like in a cybersecurity group field but any information technology career field cyberpatriot emphasizes Online safety and requires participants to pledge to act responsibly and ethically in the cybersphere learning isn't simply reading a textbook for being put into real simulated environments and we're testing our skills against people across the entire me when they're out in the real world if they choose to become Information Security Professionals you're under attack every single moment it really hasn't cruising to glamour which you know when the station said a lot of times are competing but this is really giving reason to to work together towards a common goal did a whole bunch of things going on you have to know how to properly communicate with your team what's going on before I joined syrup Hai  tell me nothing about Cyrus I only knew how to use the computer for looking up stuff on the internet but through Sr. I learned how to go beyond that when I came into cyber I didn't really know that computer aspect of myself but when our team started getting to the finals we realize hey we're good this more confident in our abilities now that we've been through this entire year learning new things for definitely better than we were when we started not my pleasure to Welcome to the stage the national champions in the all service division montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School can we see with the use of cyberpatriot in our school that we've been able to expand interest in cybersecurity through this competition and through all the word for the kids to school now I am expecially pleased to announce the national champions if you open division prism High School having them play second last year point of pressure on them there's only one place better than what we did last year and so many rural to do it's amazing the Northrop Grumman Foundation has renewed its commitment as cyberpatriots presenting sponsor through cyberpatriot 11 punching approximately five million dollars more to the program  through the generous support cyberpatriot will continue to expand and enhance the National Youth cyber trans competition develop new educational programs such as the AFA cyber camp program and the elementary school cyber education initiative and send internationally  cyberpatriot competitors and alumni have enjoyed internship opportunities with Northrop Grumman and other industry leaders when cyber rationals work side-by-side with them and their interns they can start to see themselves in those jobs and in those professions five out of my six students they had mission trips this summer they're continuing to work while they go to high school so they have real jobs you can relate pursue a career in any field that is had a little bit of cyber end in Cypress get your foot in the door so that's what makes it so cool I've competed for 3 years now and it's a great way to hang out with my friends or interested in the same thing Patriot is a ton of fun you know what I'm doing is paying off and I what I'm doing is putting me ahead and advancing my place in the way East Side patriate will begin in the fall of 2015 and we promise it'll be bigger and better than any season in the past and frankly we have to do that because our student competitors are getting so much better at solving the vulnerabilities we've got to stay ahead of them information on signing up for cyberpatriot 8
