Education: Michigan State University, B.A. in HRIM, 1988
CSUN, Single Subject Teaching Credential in English, 2005
National Board Certified Teacher, 2012
Springboard Certified Trainer, 2016

This quarter is English 10B, a requirement for graduation.  All classes are reading Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, the honors section is reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz.  All classes will be working out of the Springboard Pre-A.P. 10th grade curriculum.  Reading needs to be done both inside and outside of the classroom.

Additionally, students have a weekly assignment at vocabulary.com, due by the end of the day on Monday.  If they lack internet access at home, they are welcome to make use of the computers in the Poly library before or after school, or at lunch.

I also occasionally assign daily homework assignments on top of these two items, it's often to finish what the student didn't complete in class.  In short, if your child claims there is no English homework, you are being lied to.

STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL WORK THEY MISS WHILE ABSENT.  That is the whole reason I created this webpage.  If you are absent, take a note from your parent/guardian into the Tenth Grade Center to clear your absence.  No missed tests can be made up unless the absence is cleared.

Homework and class assignments are available online. Just log onto schoology.com and find my class.  All students can access the site with their LAUSD email address and password.

My conference period is currently 4th. If you need to contact me, the best way is always by emailing me at [email protected]

The kids seem very nice and intelligent this year.  We're still working on maturity and responsibility with some of them.  It's a process.
