We took the post RCST test to check for college readiness.  Be sure you get this taken as it counts for your total grade.

Act 8 respond to ethos, pathos and logos for last two articles.  Be sure to look at essay outline in packet.  

 

Hw is to finish all packet work to turn in after essay tomorrow. 

1)  Paper due with large rubric on top (given out 2 weeks or more ago) + Old Paper with Draft Rubric.   Remember, it still has to be submitted thru paper rater OR I WON"T READ IT!!!

 

2)  Today's Lesson:  Groups shared out transparency work.  We completed bottom of page 7 in student packet  "Analyzing Stylistic Choices."  We did numbers 1-10 in class.  (pages 7-9).  Then, completed top of page 10 (on lined paper).  Top of pg. 19 is "Post Reading Activities."  What you need to do is what it says, "Summarize in 2 paragraphs the premise of the argument.  Do you agree?  Why/why not?  Is argument valid?   Then write 3 down 3 quotes that you could use to support your point of view on this topic.  (They do not need to be in the paragraph....just written after).  Then, Write 1 paragraph after quotes about what you believe about this idea.  

 

HW = Read article 2 AND annotate it.  "Rewards for Students Under a Microscope."

1)  ERWC Packet act. 7 (agree / disagree) and QQN that's listed on page.  Just turn it in on paper since you were not here for the transparency part.

 

HW = BNW Essay.  You must resubmit thru paper rater AGAIN and then bring me a hard copy of your ENTIRE essay!  No exceptions!  All essays have been returned except a couple to those who have been absent.  

1)  Review Vocab from packet

2)  Act 2 and 3 from packet

3)  Read first article:  "Is Cash the Answer" circling vocab words while you read.  Also respond to #1 of Act 6 directly in packet.

 

HW = Keep working on your paper.  FINAL PAPER DUE FRIDAY!!!

1)  Paper turned in to me and it must have paper rater score sent to email or I'm not reading your paper.

2)  New Unit:  ERWC "Cash for Class" 

     We began with Act. #1 and discussed and then began vocab.  You must complete all the vocab (reminder, look up words you DON'T know, and there is a vocab test on some of these words at end of unit.)

 

HW = Vocab. not completed in class.  Reminder:  Grammar Tests must  be done by FRIDAY!!!

 

1)  Outline showed to me for points in addition to 2 typed pages (also for points).

2)  Peer Editing in class....don't forget the counterargument

 

HW = Type next two pages and/or finish paper with Works Cited.  Tomorrow you are turning in what you have so far and I'm taking it home for draft points.  You MUST SUBMIT to paper rater or I will not read it (SO DO THAT TONIGHT) and I'll be able to check tomorrow morning.    We are starting a new unit tomorrow!

1)  Essay Outline (I'm checking it on MONDAY!)

 

HW = Type up the first two pages of your paper and bring to class.  This (in addition) to the outline, will receive a grade!    Outline is this link below:  (all you need to do are the last two pages of it).

 

1)  Journals & Notes due.

2)  Groups worked on questions (write directly  in packet) on pg. 61  (what would MM say about your core question?  Write down notes for all questions.  

3)  Outline handed out in class:  Complete it by tomorrow.  Use core question to guide your thesis.  Use the main points of the prompt to be your subpoints.  If you get "STUCK" on "Composing Your Outline" page (pg. 45) don't worry.  The most important parts are pages 46 and 47!!!
