Between the Panels: Poly Comic Book Club

Welcome to Between the Panels: The Poly Comic Book Club! If you love comics, then this is the club for you! Come to Room 35!!

We meet on Wednesdays from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. and consider comic books, comic art, graphic novels, manga, and anything comics-related, including motion pictures, fan zines, video games, web comics, etc. Our motto: if it is or was a comic, it is fair game to discuss, dissect, and--if need be--denigrate.

Besides talking comics, the club puts an emphasis on understanding the craft itself by trying our hand at making comics. We work individually and collectively on graphic productions, whether manually or digitally, with an eye on publication. Fortunately our members have routinely published in Poly's very own student newspaper, The Optimist, and hope to publish work in this and other publications in the near future. A sample of what has been done can be found on this website, btw.

Finally, we also investigate comics; we present our findings on characters, illustrators, auteurs, companies, styles, etc. We figure that when you really like something and think it's amazing you should seek to learn everything about it: this applies to all things but especially comics.

The club accepts both casual and voting members and is directed by its leadership cabinet.

The sponsor of the club is Mr. Munoz. Inquiries can be sent to [email protected]
