Magnet Students at Summer Programs

 

Los Angeles Children’s Hospital Summer Research

Pictured:  Poly Magnet Class of 2018 students Samantha Mazariegos, Roberto Gonzalez, Marcelo Mazariego and Elida Lopez (Poly Magnet  Class of 2017, LAHIP Class of 2016, Williams entering freshman) of Elida Lopez.  

Students celebrated the conclusion of the intensive five-week summer research program.  Samantha researched maternal obesity, Roberto researched inflammatory bowel disease and Marcelo did his research in gene regulation in diabetes.

 

Summer Science Program

Leyna Duong attended a 39-day residential program at Purdue University where she studied biochemistry with a focus on fungal pathogens.  Also pictured is GiHun Choi (Magnet Class of 2013, MIT Class of 2017).  Gi Hun was one of the TA’s for the challenging summer program.

 

UC Cosmos

Kenneth Lee attended Cosmos at UC San Diego where he focused on two areas of study - global climate change and the living oceans.

Maria Solis attended Cosmos at UC Davis where she studied infectious diseases in the bio-medical cluster.
